These wind turbine generators, which are a lot less damaging to the environment than the burning of fossil fuels, are a type of windmill that harnesses the wind and in turn (no pun intended) produces electricity.The largest of the windmills stand approximately 150 feet tall and weigh more that 30-45,000 pounds.  The windmill farm on the San Gorgonio Pass in the San Bernadino Mountains boasts 4,000 or more windmills and can produce more than enough electricity to power the entire Coachella Valley, including Palm Springs/
